Cleveland's St. Augustine Parish to serve over 20,000 meals on Thanksgiving; funds, turkeys, dri

Originally published on the Diocese of Cleveland website.

The St. Augustine Hunger Center in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood is continuing a 45-year tradition of feeding those in need on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23.  A full meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m on the church ground as well as at other locations.  Click HERE to review additional locations.

More than 20,000 persons will be served on the St. Augustine grounds and at 23 centers throughout Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.  Over 10,000 of these meals will be delivered to shut-ins and persons with disabilities throughout Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Summit counties.  Transportation will be provided for individuals to come to the meal and to return.

Volunteers are needed to pack, serve and delver Thanksgiving meals.  Donations of turkeys or funds to purchase turkeys are being sought in hopes that enough can be raised to serve everyone in need on Thanksgiving and to continue daily meals at St. Augustine throughout the winter season.

Father Joseph McNulty, St. Augustine pastor, says, “We face a real difficulty in being able to provide this meal as we are struggling financially to meet the daily needs of our Hunger Center, while at the same time trying to raise money for the Thanksgiving meal.  We need your help.”

The Hunger Center is also reaching out to those who need food and is asking individuals to contact St. Augustine so they can be served.  Those in need can call 216-781-5530.

Donations can be made through the secure website: staugustine-west14.org/contactus.cfm or send them to:

St. Augustine Church 2486 West 14th St. Cleveland, OH 44113

Those donating turkeys and those who wish to volunteer as drivers on Thanksgiving Day should call Sr. Corita Ambro, CSJ at 216-781-5530.
