Sounds of St. James - June 7


The Sounds of St. James Concert Series presents “A Piano for Late Spring,” on Sunday, June 7, at 4:00 PM.


This concert invites listeners into the expressive world of the great keyboard masters. It features a program of works by Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, and Scriabin—composers whose music spans from Baroque brilliance to Romantic passion to Early-Modern mysticism. Join us for an inspiring afternoon of piano artistry at St. James Church! Free admission; a freewill offering will be taken up. You are invited to meet the artists at a reception with complimentary refreshments afterward.

 

Performers:

Halida Dinova is a Cleveland based pianist of international renown who has toured North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Russia. She completed her post graduate performance course in Piano (DMA) at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, following earlier studies in Kazan. Halida earned an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and in 2019 was awarded her PhD from VAK Moscow. She is a distinguished Steinway Artist, active performer, and loves teaching talented teenage students.

 

Brian Wilson earned his B.A. in Music History from Case Western Reserve University in 1982. From 1978-1984 he studied the organ with Karel Paukert at the Cleveland Museum of Art and was a piano student of the late Mary Williams Rautenberg. He continued his studies in Musicology as a PhD candidate at CWRU. Brian has served as a musician in the Catholic Diocese since 1976 and is currently Music Director at Vincent de Paul Church in Elyria since 1988.

 

John Michael Klein, a Lakewood resident and gifted student at Lakewood Catholic Academy, studies under Halida Dinova, DMA, PhD. John Michael has won prestigious awards, including 1st Prize in the 2024 Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition where he performed at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, England; and 1st Prize in the 2025 Charleston International Piano Competition.
