The Stations of the Cross originally began as a way for the faithful to trace the literal steps of Jesus as He carried His cross towards Calvary on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem.  It became a popular way for pilgrims to enter into Jesus's Passion and to "walk with Him."  Because not everyone could visit Jerusalem, the practice eventually became the spiritual practice known as Stations of the Cross.

At St. James, you're invited to bring your whole family to a family-friendly time for Stations of the Cross from 4:30-5:00 PM. Children welcome and encouraged! Led by lay adults and children (who are strong readers, able to project their voices -- generally about 4th grade and older). Participants are encouraged to make the Way of the Cross by traveling to each Station, helping each person to enter more deeply into the devotion, but are also welcome to stay in a pew.

People of all ages and from anywhere are welcome and invited to participate! If you've been curious about Jesus, or the Catholic Church, this is an excellent way to enter more deeply into the mysteries of His Life, Death and Resurrection, and you do not need to be Catholic to participate. Written guides are given to everyone and no prior experience is necessary.

Followed by the Fish Fry downstairs on February 20, 27; March 6, 13, 20, 27 -- come for God; stay for cod!

On Good Friday, April 3, Family Friendly Stations will not be held, and you're encouraged to attend the Passion of the Christ service.
