PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
St. James is embarking on a new ADVENTURE, new VISION, and new PLAN for our parish, guided by a new PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL.
The purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council is to promote the spiritual growth of the parish community and to plan ways for the parish to carry out the mission of the Church, as a consultative body which makes recommendations to the Pastor.
PRAYER FOR THE COUNCIL
Help us remember that the seeds we sow often take time, patience and the nourishment of your grace. Remind us of your love; remind us that we are one, that you have brought us all here together, at this time at St. James, to serve the mission of this parish as only we can. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
What is "OUR FATHER FOR OUR PARISH?"
Will You not Yourself revive us again,
That Your people may rejoice in You?
- Psalm 85: 6
When the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost on that ragtag group of frightened disciples, it set the world on fire. But how is the Holy Spirit's power unleashed in the Church today? Each and every time we see the Holy Spirit at work in Holy Scripture, it's because people are praying. They are praying passionately, together, with their whole hearts aflame with the love of God and with their eyes firmly fixed on Jesus.
We want to see this power at St. James. We long to see a parish filled with joyful, missionary disciples, whose friendships with Jesus have so changed their lives, that it spills over to everyone they meet. We long to see a community that is so loving that people will be arrested and attracted by what they see. We long to see hands that serve, hearts that give, and lives that change.
But we can't get there without prayer. Any initiative that is tried in our own strength and our own efforts is doomed to fail. And that's why the Parish Pastoral Council is asking every person who steps through the doors of St. James to pray with us for revival and renewal in our parish.
Each Wednesday at noon, we'll be praying an Our Father for Our Parish.
